At the beginning of October 2020, Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek (FAZOS), member of the Advisory Board of the ARDENT project, organised the third Family Farm Fair. The aim of organising this type of event is the aggregation of science, profession and examples of good practice, whose founders are former FAZOS students. The fair is conceived as an “open green market“, which seeks to present as many branches of agriculture as possible: cattle breeding, dairy farming, crop farming, vegetable farming, floriculture, herbs, beekeeping, fruit growing, viticulture, winemaking, agritourism, etc. The fair also brought together secondary craft and vocational schools from the area of 5 Slavonian counties, whose students are organised into student cooperatives and present and sell their products at fairs. All exhibitors at the fair, in addition to the sales part, were given the opportunity to interact directly with FAZOS’s professional and scientific-teaching staff, as well as opportunities for networking.
At the fair, family firms exhibited their products, typical for autumn in our region: fruits, vegetables, flowers, preserved meat, wines, etc.
The Family Farm Fair is held twice a year – in spring and autumn.
The autumn fair also introduced some novelties. Secondary vocational school students prepared vegetarian and vegan meals, with the aim of presenting the rich offer of our family farms, as well as the unused potentials.
